Privacy Policy
FastSheet, a spreadsheet for the Mac. Last updated 19 October 2026.
Summary
FastSheet does not collect, store or send any personal data. Your workbooks stay on your Mac.
What FastSheet does with your data
FastSheet works fully offline. The files you open and save, and the Python macros you run, stay on your Mac. FastSheet has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
When FastSheet uses the network
- Mac App Store version: the 14-day trial and the purchase are In-App Purchases handled by Apple. FastSheet only asks the App Store on your Mac which purchases your Apple Account owns. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase: apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Version from fast-sheet.com: when you enter a licence key, FastSheet sends that key once to Gumroad, which sold it, to check it. Nothing else is sent. Gumroad's privacy policy applies to the purchase: gumroad.com/privacy.
- Check for updates (version from fast-sheet.com): FastSheet reads one small file,
https://fast-sheet.com/FastSheet-version.json, at the start (at most once a day) and when you choose Help ▸ Check for Updates…. The file gives the number of the newest version. FastSheet asks for it with a plain request and sends no data about you, your Mac or your workbooks. When a newer version is available, FastSheet shows a notice with a button that opens the download page in your browser; it does not download or install anything by itself. You can turn the check at the start off in File ▸ Settings…. The Mac App Store version does not do this check: Apple brings its updates. - A link that you click in a workbook opens in your browser.
- A Python macro that you write yourself can use the network only if you write it to.
- AI (Tools ▸ AI, and the
AI()formula) is off until you turn it on — with one exception: when Ollama runs on your Mac and you have not chosen an AI setting, FastSheet uses it by itself. With a local model (Ollama on your Mac) nothing leaves your Mac. With Claude, what you ask — with the sheet details it includes (the headers, the first rows, the active cell and the selection, or the cells anAI()formula names) — goes to Anthropic with your own API key, and Anthropic's privacy policy applies: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Your AI settings and key stay on your Mac (in ~/Library/Application Support/FastSheet), never in a workbook. - The fastsheet-mcp server for AI agents runs on your Mac. It sends nothing by itself; the agent that uses it (for example Claude Desktop) has its own privacy terms.
